Allegany County Suicide Prevention Coalition
The Allegany County Suicide Prevention Coalition (ACSPC) was first initiated in 2012 as a rural model for effective, successful programming and professional and community-based trainings and resources to build a Rural Suicide Safety-Net.
Utilizing evidenced-based programs the ACSPC is working to enhance suicide awareness, risk factors, warning signs, improve strategies to keep at-risk individuals safe during a crisis, and shape our communities' response to a death by suicide. |
Who We Are
The ACSPC is a group of committed citizens including; but not limited to both public and private representatives, suicide survivors, and community members at-large; working to prevent suicide and promote individual and community healing. Our Vision: Is that all people know that they are valued, priceless, and therefore empowered to live.
Our Mission
We are committed to embracing life by being a resource for suicide prevention, intervention and postvention.

Our Goals
- Increase public awareness that suicide is a public health problem, suicide is preventable, and help is available.
- Increase the number of Allegany County School Districts and youth-serving organizations that implement effective youth suicide prevention.
- Support initiatives that decrease risk factors for individuals susceptible to suicide by reducing access to lethal means and establishing county-wide suicide safety planning protocols.

- Develop effective clinical and professional practices that promote early identification and treatment of suicdel risk factors and promote protective factors.
- Provide resource information and assistance in situations where contagion appears to be a factor for communities and groups.
