Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention

What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi is an exercise that incorporates principles to improve health and wellness through movement control, weight transference, and the integration of mind and body. The exercises are low impact and put minimal stress on the joints and muscles, making it ideal for older adults. The Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention class has also been recognized by the New York State Department of Health as one of the best ways to prevent falls and maintain independence through exercise that focuses on balance, strength, and confidence.

Who Can Best Learn From Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention?
¨ Adults age 65 and older
¨ Participants able to attend twice a week
¨ Individuals who can participate actively in class
¨ Chairs will be available for those who need them
 
Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention has been proven to significantly improve pain and physical functional scores. It is also identified in the Journal of American Geriatric Society as “one of the most effective works anyone can do for health promotion.”
