ACCESS Allegany Travel Training
The Access Allegany Travel Training program is for people with disabilities and older adults who want to learn to travel safely and independently using public transportation. Travel training is a FREE self-paced process where an individual, regardless of ability or age, can learn to ride Access Allegany's fixed-route system.
Public Transit Orientation
Public Transit Orientation services are designed for people who have good community mobility
but limited knowledge of the public transit system. This program is
designed to be a group orientation
and delivered to community groups, individuals interested in using ACCESS Allegany, or professionals representing a variety of industries,
healthcare, employment, continuing education, etc.
- Public Transit Orientation can be presented in as little as 30 minutes
- Teaches individuals how to read the schedule, identify the correct bus, and where to access additional information
- Public Transit Orientation is recommended for appointment schedulers, parents, case workers, teachers, etc.
Travel Training Workshop
Travel training is an in-depth, person-centered program for individuals wishing to ride ACCESS Allegany. Individuals who successfully complete a travel training program will demonstrate the skills needed to travel independently and safely.
- Provided for seniors and individuals living with a disability
- Delivered by trained professionals using various approaches
- Delivered by professionals represented by a variety of organizations
Travel Training: Train-the-Trainer Workshop
Do you work with individuals who struggle with community mobility? Have you wanted to help remove transportation as a barrier to your programs and services? If you answered "yes," we hope you will join colleagues from across Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Steuben Counties working in advocacy, aging services, transportation, business, education and government to become an ACCESS Allegany Travel Trainer.
