JustTellOne.org Campaign Comes to Allegany County
Ardent Solutions received a Suicide Prevention Center of New York State mini-grant to launch the local JustTellOne Campaign and Firearms and Suicide Prevention Program.
JustTellOne.org’s mission is to give Western New York youth and young adults the tools and confidence to start the conversation about their mental health or behavioral health issues such as substance abuse. By helping a young person reach out for help as early as possible, we can increase the use of intervention services and decrease the likelihood of the issue turning into an emergency.
JustTellOne.org is a public awareness initiative led by the Mental Health Association of Erie County and the Erie County Council for the Prevention of Alcohol and Substance Abuse (ECCPASA), in association with Millennium Collaborative Care and Community Partners of WNY, and with support from organizations representing Niagara, Orleans, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany Counties.

The Allegany County Heroin and Opioid Ad-Hoc Committee's Voices of Allegany County work group continues to host Community Education Forums across Allegany County with the viewing of The Hungry Heart documentary that depicts the impact of heroin and opioid addiction on a small rural community in Vermont. Over sixty residents attended the first viewing on October 26, 2017, at the David A. Howe Library, Wellsville, NY.
Following, the Voices of Allegany County local film produced by the Allegany-Cattaraugus County BOCES Media Class illustrates the impact of heroin and opioid abuse on Allegany County residents. A panel discussion ended the program providing local experts to share their views on the current crisis and allowing audience members to share their experiences and ask questions.
